(VOVworld) – 40 leading Vietnamese artists participated in a special music concert in Hanoi on Sunday to show their patriotism and support for national maritime sovereignty.

Organized by the Vietnam Musicians’ Association, the music gala conveyed the message as proud Vietnamese citizens, everyone should show their support for their nation in its time of need. Do Hong Quan is President of the Vietnam Musicians’ Association: "The Association called on singers and musicians to show their support as artists and citizens to protest China’s illegal deployment of oil rig Haiyang 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. This is also a good opportunity to honour the timeless music of generations of Vietnamese musicians"

Money raised by the concert will be given to fisheries resources surveillance forces and fishermen who are defending Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty.
