Myanmar army frees several high-ranking officials
(VOVWORLD) - A Myanmar army official said that lawmakers of the National League of Democracy Party (NLD) were freed on Tuesday morning.
Earlier on Monday, the military detained government leaders, governors, and high-ranking members of the NLD Party. The Commander in Chief of Myanmar’s armed forces is now ruling the country. The Myanmar Presidential Office has imposed a one year- emergency state.
According to AP, one of the detained lawmakers, said he and about 400 other parliament members were able to speak with one another inside the compound and communicate with their constituencies by phone, but were not allowed to leave the housing complex in Naypyitaw.
