(VOVworld) -On Wednesday, Myanmar President U Thein Sein and Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Services, Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing, held separate talks with Aung San Suu Kyi, Chairperson of the election-winning opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) to discuss power transfer.

In Nay Pyi Taw's Presidential Palace, President U Thein Sein and Suu Kyi discussed the establishment of good tradition in systematic power transfer in the post election period. Senior-General Hlaing and Suu Kyi agreed on boosting cooperation for national benefits, placed emphasis on national reconciliation and consolidation in forming parliament of the next term through coordination and cooperation.
The dialogues took place in response to a request by Suu Kyi in her letter to U Thein Sein on November 11 after her party won a landslide in the November 8 general election. The first session of the new parliament will take place in January. A presidential election will be held in February, following the formation of the new government in March. The present term of the government will expire next March.
