The same day, a preparatory committee was set up to take care of national peace and reconciliation. The 16 member committee is chaired by chief peace negotiator Tin Myo Win and its Vice Chairman is Kyaw Tint Swe. The Committee is divided into two sub-committees responsible for negotiating with militant groups who have or have not signed the so-called Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA). The Myanmar government signed the NCA with 8 militant groups on October 15, 2015, hoping to end decades-long conflict. The government and militant groups formed a Joint Ceasefire Monitoring Committee and a Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee. 7 other militant groups have not yet signed the NCA.
