NA Chairman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attends 140th-IPU Assembly
(VOVWORLD) - The 140th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union opened in Doha, Qatar on Saturday under the theme “Parliaments as platforms to enhance education for peace, security and the rule of law”. The Vietnamese delegation led by NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attended the opening ceremony.

In his address, Qatari King Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani praised the agenda of the assembly highlighting the importance of education and calling for further investment in education to obtain prosperity for everyone. He called for strengthened dialogues to address conflicts and ensure equality. In his opening speech, IPU President Gabriela Cuevas Barron said the assembly marked the 130th founding anniversary of the IPU and created an opportunity for parliaments around the world to strengthen cooperation.
On the sideline of the Assembly, Ms Ngan will hold bilateral meetings with leaders of Qatar and other countries and visit the Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar.
