(VOVworld) – Belgium’s Senate President Christine Defraigne is on an official visit to Vietnam. During talks on Tuesday, National Assembly chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said he hoped the two countries would promote cooperation in logistics, high technology, green growth, and vocational training. He called for Belgium’s support for the early signing of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement in 2015 and its recognition of Vietnam’s market economy status.

The Belgian Senate President said Belgium’s Parliament supported Vietnam-EU relations and Belgium had ratified the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the EU and Vietnam. She said that Belgium would continue to lobby other EU countries to sign the EU-Vietnam FTA. She urged continued cooperation at multilateral forums such as the Inter-parliamentary Union, the Asia-Europe  Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP) Meeting.
