(VOVWORLD) -National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on Wednesday sent a letter of condolences to Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Sentop and Speaker of the People's Council of Syria Hammouda Youssef Sabbagh for the recent catastrophic earthquake.
Chairman Hue said he believes that the State and People of Turkey and Syria will soon overcome this challenging period and stabilize socio-economic life.
He affirmed Vietnam always stands with the Turkish and Syrian people at this difficult time, be ready to join the international community to support them in dealing with the earthquake consequences within its ability.
The 7.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in southeastern Turkey and northern Syria early Monday morning, killing more than 11,000 people, injuring tens of thousands of others, and destroying houses and facilities.
