National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan told reporters that the forum demonstrates the Vietnamese Assembly’s increasing role and prestige in parliamentary activities in the region and the wider world.  

Ngan said the event will contribute to the overall success of Vietnam’s diplomacy and enhance Vietnam’s relations with other countries’ parliaments.

She underlined that Vietnam chairing the APPF sends a message of a reform, peaceful, stable and developing Vietnam, a national assembly of creativity and integration, and a friendly people. She said Vietnam is committed to implementing joint missions towards sustainable development goals and wants to upgrade APPF’s position to become an APEC partner, and promote cooperation in Asia-Pacific.
