NA deputies support stricter control of alcohol’s harm
(VOVWORLD) - The draft laws on Alcohol Harm Prevention were reviewed at the 7th session of the 14th National Assembly in Hanoi on Thursday.

High on the agenda were alcohol advertisement and promotion, control of home-made alcoholic beverages, and mitigation of problems related to alcohol consumption. Most deputies agreed on the need for stricter control of alcohol’s negative effects. Nguyen Ngoc Phuong, a deputy from Quang Binh province, said the draft law should clarify that alcohol cause severe consequences to human health and national economy. He said: “Consuming alcohol can lead to mental impairment of drivers and cause serious accidents. It can also lead to heart disease, liver cirrhosis, and cancer. Measures are needed to reduce alcohol-related problems.”
