(VOVWORLD) - National Assembly deputies suggested that the Government and the National Assembly provide more support to ensure social security for the people, especially those in ethnic minority groups in remote and isolated areas, and pay more attention to education, culture and health.

At their ongoing meeting in Hanoi on Thursday, the deputies asked for rapid disbursement of 3 national target programs, including new rural development, socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, and sustainable poverty reduction.
Bo Thi Xuan Linh, a National Assembly deputy for Binh Thuan province, said: “I appreciate 6 guidelines of the Government and the Prime Minister in 2023 and 12 key solutions. I’m especially interested in the point that cultural development must be on par with economic and political development, environmental protection, social progress and justice, and taking care of people's material and cultural well-being to leave no one behind.”
Hoang Van Cuong, a deputy of Hanoi, proposed more economic corporations as the pillar to develop an independent and self-reliance economy. Some opinions stressed the need to enhance the disbursement of public investment capital, strengthen environment protection and improve people’s health.
Ho Thi Kim Ngan, a deputy for Bac Kan province, said: “Protecting, caring for and improving people's health is the duty and responsibility of each citizen and the political system and society. It’s necessary to ensure healthcare and universal health insurance for all people, so that all people enjoy their rights and duties.”
Also on Thursday Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, and Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan answered questions raised by the National Assembly deputies. The National Assembly deputies also debated issues of public concern such as the shortages of labor, teachers, and medical staff, and tuition increases.
