(VOV) – The National Assembly Standing Committee on Wednesday continued their 13th session, discussing the implementation of the NA resolution on votes of confidence for officials elected or approved by the NA and the People’s Councils. NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung chaired the meeting. The Committee stressed the need for a detailed instruction about the timing of the votes of confidence: in the first NA session of the year, starting from the 2nd year of each NA tenure. So the NA will hold votes of confidence in its 5th session in May next year. The People’s Councils at all levels will hold votes of confidence at their first regular meeting next year. NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung told the meeting: “There are people to be voted and voters. Efforts should be made to have unbiased and fair evaluations of people. The instructions of the votes should abide by principles and personnel procedures of the Party and the State.”

The NA Standing Committee agreed that those officials, who receive more than half of no-confidence votes, will face the possibility of being dismissed from their posts by the NA and the People’s Councils.
