NA Standing Committee: Urban and rural harmony should be taken into account in planning
(VOVWORLD) -Debating the draft Law on Urban and Rural Planning on Monday, the National Assembly Standing Committee said that urban planning should be strategic, respect market rules and principles of sustainable development; take people and quality of life as the center, urban culture and civilization as the foundation for development; and ensure a cohesion between urban and rural areas.

Urban planning and infrastructure development of urban areas must create the main resources for urban development and be connected with urban development models, they said.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue stressed the need to resolve the relationship between urbanization and building new rural areas and between urbanization and urban economic development.
He also emphasized climate change adaptation planning and population density and infrastructure to calculate the balance of urban development in width and urban development according to the Transit-oriented development (TOD) model.
