NA Vice Chairwoman: Vietnam hopes to get IMF’s advice

(VOVworld) - Vietnam wishes to receive advice from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on how to overcome difficulties and obstacles to successfully restructure its economy, said National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

While receiving IMF Deputy Managing Director Mitsuhiro Furusawa in Hanoi on Friday, Ms.Ngan asked for IMF’s recommendations on the management of the macro-economy, monetary and fiscal policies as well as measures and resources for economic restructuring, especially in banking reform and bad debt settlement. She also expressed her hope that the IMF will continue assisting National Assembly bodies by providing them with expertise and policy making experience of other countries as well as latest information on the world economy and studies on Vietnam’s socio-economic conditions.

On his part, Mitsuhiro Furusawa pledged that the fund will continue to cooperate with and support Vietnam in terms of finance, human resources development, while giving the country policy consultations for further development.
