(VOVworld) - National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan met with the President of Cuban National Assembly of People's Power Esteban Lazo in Havana on Tuesday. She is in Cuba to attend the official funeral of former leader Fidel Castro. Chairwoman Ngan asked Mr. Lazo to convey the deepest sympathies of the leaders and former leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State, and people to President Raul Castro, Party and State leaders and people of Cuba, as well as Mr. Castro’s family.

She said generations of Vietnamese have been aware of the fraternal solidarity and the wholehearted and valuable support of Fidel Castro for Vietnam over the past half century.

The chief legislator said she believes that under the leadership of Raul Castro, the Cuban Party, State and people will successfully realize Mr. Castro’s thoughts on national construction and defense.

The Vietnamese Party and State will hold a special ceremony of tribute to the Cuban historic and eminent revolutionary leader, who was also a close comrade and brother to Vietnam’s leaders and people.
