(VOVworld)- National Assembly deputies on Monday asked the government to increase the investment in fishermen’s vessels. The deputies agreed with the plan to allocate 16 trillion VND from the 2013 state budget for marine police, surveillance forces and offshore fishermen. Nguyen Cao Son is a deputy from Hoa Binh province: “In the face of the complicated and unforeseeable situation in the East Sea, I agree with the government’s plan to allocate 16 trillion VND to stabilize the macro economy, combine economic development with national defence, and increase investment for marine police and fishermen”.

Deputies urged the Government to direct localities to review and suspend unnecessary projects to mobilize resources for law enforcement agencies and the fishermen.

The deputies also discussed issues relating to agriculture, farmers and rural areas. They said that despite incentives for agriculture, agricultural growth had reduced. They urged the government  to prioritize resources for agriculture, the main pillar of the national economy. Truong Van Vo is a deputy from Dong Nai province: “We need to take more resolute measures to guide localities in restructuring the agricultural sector. We should assist them in adopting agricultural products, implementing bio-technology programs and developing high-technology agriculture. We need to encourage enterprises to invest in agriculture and rural areas”

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat is a deputy from Dak Lak province: “In the coming months, we will focus on addressing problems facing the farmers to help them develop their markets. We will diversify export markets, especially for fresh agricultural produce. We will also restructure the agricultural sector, expand the market and increase farmers’ capacity and readiness for natural disasters and epidemics”.
