National Assembly discusses the revised Civil Code

(VOVworld) – National Assembly deputies discussed the draft revisions to the Civil Code on Thursday. The deputies said that in 8 years of implementation, the Civil Code has had a positive impact on Vietnam’s socio-economic development.

But in the new phase of development, which requires institutionalization of Party policies and guidelines on the socialist-oriented market economy, international integration, and protecting civil and human rights, the Civil Code has shown some inadequacies and has not created a favorable legal environment for socio-economic development and assuring people’s civil rights.

On Thursday afternoon, the National Assembly continued to discuss the draft Law on Sea and Island Resources and Environment and Veterinary Law. Several deputies recommended to rename the bill as the Law on Sea Resources and Environment to match with the name of the Law of the Sea. The bill should supplement contents such as reefs and other geological structures belonging to Vietnam’s sovereignty and jurisdiction.
