National Assembly Standing Committee debates reforming textbooks
(VOVworld) - The National Assembly Standing Committee opened its 27th session on Monday in Hanoi. In his address, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung highlighted the importance of the session in preparing for the 7th session of the 13th National Assembly.

During the 10-day session, delegates will comment on and review draft laws to submit to the National Assembly. High on the agenda are the issuance of a NA resolution on reforming school textbooks and programs and a draft project towards this reform after 2015. Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien said the reform of the school textbook program after 2015 was flexible and needed an investment of about 35 trillion VND. Head of the Law Committee of the National Assembly Phan Trung Ly said:“The project on reforming school textbooks will have a strong impact on people’s lives. For the National Assembly’s thorough consideration, we should prepare our programs more thoroughly. We need to gather more comments from the public and educational experts”.
Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong asked the Compiling Committee to collect deputies’ comments to fine-tune the content of the program and evaluate the impact of the National Assembly’s resolution in this regard.
On the same, the deputies discussed the revised Law on Vocational Training. They stressed the importance of improving the quality and effectiveness of vocational training, and ensuring that vocational training met the demands of the labor market. They recommended that the revised Law should focus more on women and rural workers and assisting vocational centers in rural and mountainous areas.
