(VOVworld) – On Monday, the National Election Council  held a national meeting to review the election of the 14^th National Assembly deputies and People’s Council members for the 2016-2021 term. Speaking at the opening ceremony, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan the election’s success is significant in implementing the resolution of the 12^th National Party Congress and socio-economic development plans. She added that the election’s success will be a premise to continue building and fine-tuning the socialist state of Vietnam governed by law of the people, by the people and for the people.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong stressed the important results of the May 22 election: “The elected deputies have reflected wide representation of people and the quality of deputies is improved. The number of female, ethnic, young deputies and of those with tertiary education is higher than in the previous term. The election took place in a democratic, equal, legal and safe manner, being a festival of the nation and a political event of the party, people and army. This success once again demonstrates the political awareness, sense of responsibility and patriotism of the people. It also shows the people’s trust in the party’s leadership and the state’s management and confirms the people’s self-determination and national unity”.

 Party leader Trong urged for further efforts to continue to reform the National Assembly and the People’s Councils and to successfully organize the first session of the 14^th National Assembly.
