(VOVworld)- A ceremony to launch the national ethnic radio channel took place in Quan Ba district, Ha Giang province on Friday.

Speaking at the launch, the Secretary of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee Trieu Tai Vinh said VOV’s launch of the national ethnic FM channel in Quan Ba district reflects the interest of the Party, State and VOV in particular in delivering the Party and State policies to ethnic minority people.

VOV President Nguyen The Ky said the Party and State always consider ethnic minority affairs a strategic, long term issue. He said VOV prioritized investment in broadcasts of ethnic minority programs.

So far, VOV has broadcast in 12 ethnic languages on the national radio. The government is investing in VOV to develop a national ethnic channel project during the 2016-2020 period with total investment of 250 billion VND. Under the project, the first FM transmission station was set up at the Cong Troi Quan Ba Radio and TV relay center on an area of 5,000 square meters. The channel broadcasts programs in Mong and Dao ethnic minority language and other VOV’s programs.
