(VOVworld) – A workshop on the national plan for blindness prevention in the 2014-2018 period and providing eye care services to the central highlands regions was held on Wednesday in Hue. The workshop designed programs and a detailed action plan for provinces and cities which will serve as a basis for a national plan for blindness prevention.

Associate Professor Nguyen Tien Dung, secretary of the National Committee for Prevention of Blindness under the Ministry of Health said: "In recent years, with support from the government and the Ministry of Health and 3 million USD a year from international organizations, we have restored vision to 170 blind people. We have also provided glasses to thousands of children and eye surgery to approximately 20 thousand patients".
