Nations optimistic of a denuclearised Korean Peninsula

In separated letters to US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Mr Lee congratulated them on the successful conclusion of the summit, adding that this is a crucial first move in the long journey towards lasting peace and stability on a denuclearised Korean Peninsula.
EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini said Tuesday that the joint statement signed at the historic US-North Korea summit gives a clear signal that the goal of complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula can be achieved.
British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson said Britain welcomed the summit, saying that this is an important step towards the stability of a region vital to global economic growth.
Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov praised the summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un as a "positive" step. IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano hailed a pledge from North Korea to complete the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
