(VOVworld) – NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said on Thursday that the organization would consider any requests for help from Iraq in its battle with the Islamic State.

On the eve of the NATO summit in Newport, Wales, UK, Rasmussen said leaders of the NATO military alliances will discuss possible measures to deal with the IS threat, adding that NATO has not received any request for assistance from Iraq but will take action if the government in Baghdad makes a request. Rasmussen said the international community needs to join the effort to stop the IS threat.
