NATO, Russia agree on importance of INF
(VOVWORLD) - The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is ready to continue negotiations with Russia on the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said after a NATO-Russia Council (NRC) meeting in Brussels on Wednesday.
NATO called on Russia to comply with the INF treaty and said it is ready for a dialogue with Moscow on this issue. NATO vowed to take effective steps to ensure the safety and security of NATO allies.
Stoltenberg said all NATO allies agree that the INF treaty has been crucial to Euro-Atlantic security. The Russian Permanent Mission to NATO said Moscow considers the INF treaty an important factor in maintaining European and global stability.
