(VOVWORLD) - NATO will become an official member of the Anti-terrorist Coalition, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a press conference on Thursday.
Joining the Coalition will enable NATO to take part in policy discussions and joint combat training programs, according to Stoltenberg. NATO will aid the Coalition by sending Airborne Warning and Control Systems to exercise air control.

At a meeting this week at NATO’s new headquarters in Brussels, NATO leaders reached some important decisions to strengthen NATO’s role in the fight against terrorism.
NATO will establish an anti-terrorism intelligence group within its Joint Intelligence and Security Division to enhance the sharing of information about foreign threats. NATO leaders have also agreed to distribute defense spending more equaly among its members.
