Earlier a source close to Hamas said talks were underway for the release of a dozen hostages held by the Islamists, including six Americans, in return for a three‑day ceasefire in Gaza.

In the latest statement, PM Netanyahu clearly stated that there will be no ceasefire without the release of Israeli hostages.

On Monday, Netanyahu rejected the calls for a ceasefire despite increased international pressure, but noted Israel would consider small tactical pauses in the Gaza fighting to facilitate favorable conditions for delivering humanitarian aid or facilitating the release of hostages.
