New ASEAN chief continues to prioritize regional peace, stability and security
(VOVWORLD) -The newly-appointed Secretary General of ASEAN has said that the association should continue to give priority to maintaining peace, stability and security in the region.

Kao Kim Hourn, a Cambodian was officially inaugurated on Monday in Jakarta after his appointment as ASEAN chief at the 40th ASEAN Summit in Phnom Penh last November.
In his inauguration speech, Kao Kim Hourn underscored his six priorities, which include maintaining peace, stability and security in the region and building on prosperity that ASEAN, both collectively and individually, has achieved.
The next priorities are to focus on the planet, especially the environment, climate change and the green economy, and to empower the people, especially the youths. Another priority is to enhance partnerships within ASEAN as well as between ASEAN and its external partners. The final priority is to transform the bloc’s potentials into real benefits and advantages, he said.
