(VOVworld) - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Thursday that a new round of international talks on ending the war in Syria will be held in New York but didn’t announce a date for the meeting.

Several diplomats said it will likely be held on December 18th.
At a press conference following an international conference on Syria in Vienna on November 14th, US Secretary of State John Kerry said participants agreed on a roadmap to end the nearly five-year war in Syria. The roadmap calls for talks between the Syrian government and opposition forces before January 2016 and elections in Syria within 18 months.
