At the first meeting of the sub-committee on personnel affairs of the 14th National Party Congress in Hanoi on Wednesday, Party leader Trong referred to the requirements set forth for the personnel work of the Congress. He emphasized the importance of correctly determining the requirements for building the Party Central Committee with the core being the Politburo, the Secretariat, and key leaders of the Party.
The 14th Party Central Committee must be a truly united, clean, strong team with political willpower and moral qualities; be pure and steadfast in the goal of national independence and socialism; have strategic vision; have intelligence, be innovative and creative; and represent the entire Party in terms of fighting spirit and discipline, Mr. Trong said.
He stressed other qualities of being closely attached to the people; rallying solidarity and unity within the entire Party and the entire people; and having enough prestige and capacity to lead the country in the new stage of development.
The General Secretary also requested that the next term Party Central Committee should have a reasonable number of members and structure to ensure comprehensive leadership. The number of Party Central Committee members must be increased in key areas, ensuring inheritance, stability, innovation and continuous development.
He added the personnel work must be conducted according to a strict, scientific and consistent process, ensuring true fairness, transparency, and objectivity in selection; and take political qualities, ethics, lifestyle, work efficiency, and reputation of the cadre and his or her family as the main measurement.
