(VOVWORLD) - The Ngoc Linh ginseng e-commerce platform was launched in Quang Nam province on Monday to boost local ginseng trade, manage product quality, and minimize counterfeit goods.

Businesses and households selling Ngoc Linh ginseng and medicinal herbs who join the platform need to promise to provide accurate information, verify origins, and maintain product quality.
Tran Van Man, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province, said that the main aim of the e-commerce platform is to oversee the trade of Ngoc Linh ginseng and medicinal herbs to safeguard the reputation of Ngoc Linh ginseng and local medicinal herbs and agricultural products.
"We ensure thorough tracing of product origins to provide customers a trusted source for their purchases," he added.
Ngoc Linh ginseng is a rare type of ginseng found exclusively at the peak of Ngoc Linh Mountain in Quang Nam and Kon Tum province. This prized herb is rich in saponin, known for its health benefits, including boosting the immune system, aiding memory, containing anti-inflammatory, anti-stress, and anti-cancer properties, and preventing aging.
Ngoc Linh ginseng has the status of a national brand, is considered a national treasure, and is one of the 250 protected rare species listed in the red book.
