(VOVworld) – The Foreign Ministers of Germany, France, Russia and Ukraine, known as the Normandy Quartet, have agreed to push ahead with implementation of the Minsk agreement on Eastern Ukraine signed in Belarus.

In a joint statement issued on Monday, they focused on the withdrawal of mortars and heavy weapons of less than 100mm and ending the ongoing economic blockade against the region.

The Normandy Quartet diplomats expressed concern over ceasefire violations in eastern Ukraine and called on warring parties to stop fighting and strictly abide by the Minsk agreement.

Regarding Kiev’s call for deployment of a peace-keeping mission in Eastern Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said no member of the group supports the idea.
