The move came as Pyongyang is strengthening its defense capability to achieve the five-point goal of developing defense capability set out at the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea in January 2021.
KCNA said North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has inspected the Committee’s activities and the country’s first military reconnaissance satellite, which is ready for loading after undergoing the final general assembly check and space environment test.
Kim said the successful launch of the satellite was an “urgent requirement of the prevailing security for the country.” He underscored the strategic importance of the military satellites in ensuring the right to self-defense and setting goals for space research.
