North Korea says new US sanctions will not work
(VOVWORLD) -North Korea said Thursday that the new sanctions imposed by the US will not work and Pyongyang has prepared its own "formula" to counter them.

The unilateral sanctions imposed by US President Donald Trump North Korea’s constitute a wanton infringement upon sovereignty and an open violation of universally recognized international laws, the director of policy research at the Institute for American Studies of North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). The statement was released after President Trump announced last week US sanctions targeting 56 vessels, shipping companies, and trade businesses.
South Korea plans to send a special envoy to North Korea in response to an invitation from leader Kim Jong-un, South Korean President Moon Jae-in told President Trump in a phone call on Thursday. The two presidents discussed recent visits to the south by high-level North Korean officials and agreed to continue efforts to denuclearize the Korean peninsula by maintaining the momentum of the South-North dialogue.
