(VOVWORLD) - North Korea has successfully tested a solid-fuel hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile as part of its regular program of developing powerful weapons, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) announced Sunday.

According to KCNA, a hypersonic missile carrying a warhead was launched Sunday afternoon to test its "gliding and maneuvering characteristics" and the "reliability of its new multi-stage high-thrust solid-fuel engines".
KCNA said that the launch "never affected the security of any neighboring country and had nothing to do with the regional situation".
