North Korea urges US to adopt serious attitude for new situation on Korean Peninsula
(VOVWORLD) - North Korea said on Monday its attempt to forge better ties with South Korea is receiving broad international support and called on the US to halt its sanctions and pressure.

Ri Jong Hyok, Director of North Korea’s National Reunification Institute and Deputy Head of its Supreme People’s Assembly, told the general assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) that North Korea wants to build a peaceful new world, free from aggression and war. He said nothing can block the goal of inter-Korean dialogue and reunification. Ri called on Washington to understand North Korea’s position and come out in a manner of sincere and serious commitment to maintaining peace and stability on the Korean peninsula.
Helga Schmid, Secretary General of the EU’s External Action Service said the EU supports South Korea’s diplomatic efforts to find a solution to the nuclear crisis and establish a permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.
