Northern provinces recover from floods, landslides
(VOVWORLD) - Efforts are underway to overcome consequences of floods in northwestern mountainous localities in Vietnam.
Dozens of households in Son La province are evacuated to safer places

In Son La province, floods affected more than 1.500 houses and submerged 960 hectares of farm land. 11 schools and 45 irrigation works were damaged.
In Yen Bai, torrential rains killed one person, destroyed 200 houses, and damaged nearly 600 hectares of crops. Roads and irrigation works were broken.
Dien Bien province, 50 houses were ravaged. Transportation on national highways was disrupted due to landslides. The total loss was reported to reach 1.5 million USD.
In the affected localities, people were evacated to safer places. Road sections affected by lanslides are being repaired to ensure traffic as soon as possible. Bui Minh Hai, Deputy Head of Dien Bien province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said: “Apart from 3 reservoirs with water level exceeding 50 centimeters, other reservoirs are in safe levels. We have asked districts and communes to mobilize all resources to overcome the flood aftermaths, so that everything is back to normal before the new school year”.
