“One Heart-One World” charity program for the disabled
(VOVworld) – The 10th charity program called “One Heart-One World” opened on Saturday night in Hanoi with the attendance of Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan and more than 300 disabled and orphans. Nguyen Dinh Lieu, President of the Association for the Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans, said: “Today, the program enters the 10th year and we have an opportunity to look back at our path over the past 9 years. Once again we feel more sympathetic with the disabled and orphans and honor domestic and foreign organizations and individuals for encouraging the people with disabilities to win their pain and orphans to stand on their own feet”.
Over the past 9 years, the program has raised about 25 million USD to help 1.3 million people. The 10th program seeks to providing vocational training and jobs for 2,000 disabled people, offering 7,000 wheelchairs for the disabled, 1,000 bicycles for the orphans and building 500 sanitation and clean water projects for them.
