(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam confirmed its 37th COVID-19 death Monday as a 34-year-old man succumbed to complications and other conditions including brain injury.

The patient from Hanoi’s neighboring province of Bac Ninh was infected with the novel coronavirus after he was sent to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi on April 24 following a traffic accident that caused him brain injury. The hospital became a COVID-19 hotspot and was put under lockdown on May 5.
The Ministry of Health confirmed that he died of severe pneumonia due to COVID-19, brain injury, and meningitis.
Vietnam recorded 37 new domestic infections of COVID-19 on Monday morning, all in quarantine sites or sealed-off areas, raising the national count to more than 4,200.
22 of the latest cases were reported in Bac Giang province, 11 in Bac Ninh province, 3 in Vinh Phuc province, and 1 in Tuyen Quang province.
There are no new hotbeds.
Nearly 1 million people in Vietnam have been inoculated against COVID-19, with more than 22,000 getting two shots, according to the Health Ministry.
