The organization’s spokesperson Michael Luan said that supervisors of the OPCW’s official committee are establishing connections with Syrian officials in charge of supporting the organization’s work. The OPCW has received a detailed report of all chemical weapon stockpiles in Syria and is now checking this data.
The Syrian security forces are reportedly in negotiation with rebel groups who control areas with arsenals to ensure safety for members of the OPCW.
Earlier, an international team, including 19 OPCW experts and 14 UN personnel said in a statement that it had started work with Syrian authorities on securing sites where it will operate, especially in outlying areas.
