(VOVworld) - The
Russian border checkpoint Gukovo crossing was shelled from the Ukrainian side
twice on Sunday. The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE)
reported that none of its observers were hurt. OSCE spokesman Shiv Sharma told Russia’s
ITAR-TASS that on Sunday, observers twice heard the sound of artillery fire. Sharma
has yet been unable to specify the location and shooters but insisted that the
shells were fired by the Ukrainian forces and opposition groups in their conflict.
He confirmed that the incident would not affect OSCE day-and-night monitoring
of the border area.
