(VOVworld)- The Special Monitoring Mission of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe on Wednesday received a letter from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence, saying Ukrainian Armed Forces had deployed heavy weapons on the contact line in order to deal with the fighting in Marinka city of Donetsk.
Kiev’s military announced that they had repelled attacks by pro-independence forces, while the eastern rebels said that the Kiev forces have left the region without any further conflict.
Latest statistics released by the United Nations showed that since last April - since the conflict’s start- more than 6400 people have died, including 620 women and children.
About 16,000 people were injured. However, the actual figure may be higher.
The Ukrainian crisis also negatively affected the lives of about 5 million people, of whom 2,2 million people have been displaced.
