(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai congratulated outstanding female academics and awarded them the 2023 Kovalevskaia Prize at a ceremony in Hanoi on Thursday, in the lead-up to International Women's Day March 8.

Among nearly 250 attendees was Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Doan, former Vice President and Chairwoman of the Kovalevskaia Prize Committee.
Deputy Prime Minister Khai told participants that today, regardless of circumstances and work positions, Vietnamese women always maximize traditional values and good qualities, be united, dynamic, and creative, and make great contributions to national construction and defense.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam always pay close attention to female academics and gender equality work for the advancement of women in general.
The 2023 Kovalevskaia Prize was given to Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Viet Ha, Director of the Institute of Oceanography and Professor, Dr. Hoang Thi Thai Hoa, Head of the Faculty of Agronomy, University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University.
