Each of them is testament to the "down but not out" spirit, serving as a role model of resilience and the desire to advance and contribute.
The honorees included Pham Thi Le Huyen, who established a handicraft group for disadvantaged students and swimmer Trinh Bich Nhu, who won eight gold medals at the ASEAN Para Games.
Le Thi Tham, an armless teacher from Thanh Hoa province, said, “I’ve been inspired by teacher Nguyen Ngoc Ky. Like him, I also practice writing with my feet and later became a teacher."
"After graduating from university, I returned to my home town and open an English class. For disadvantaged children, I teach for free.”
3,000 exemplary young people with disabilities have been honored over the past 10 years.
