Over 120 Philippine fishermen missing due to Tropical Storm Mujigae

(VOVworld) – Over 120 fishermen remain missing in Ilocos region of northern Philippines even as Tropical Storm Mujigae has left the area.

The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council 1 reported that a total of 121 fishermen and 23 fishing vessels were reported missing as of Saturday and a total of 31 fishermen have been rescued. In another official report, two persons have been killed in central Luzon of northern Philippines. Over 190,000 people have been affected by Mujigae. The tropical low pressure intensified into a tropical storm on Friday. Typhoon Mujigae is striking China’s southern island provinces of Hainan and Guangdong. The Chinese Administration issued a red alert for the typhoon. Authorities ordered fishing fleets to stay ashore and canceled flights and rail services.
