(VOVworld) – Overseas Vietnamese in Bucharest, the capital city of Romania, held meetings to protest at China’s illegal placement of Haiyang 981 oil rig in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone. They expressed their support for Vietnam’s careful response to China’s violation of international law, and urged China to withdraw its oil rig from Vietnam’s waters.

Meanwhile, overseas Vietnamese students in Auckland, New Zealand staged a rally to condemn China’ s illegal actions, carrying slogans in Vietnamese, Chinese, and English that demanded China’s oil rig be withdrawn and urged China to halt similar actions in the future and respect international maritime law.
