Participants took part in wrapping square sticky rice cakes, folk games, and performances of traditional music. Le Thu Hoai, a first-year student at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, told VOV: "This is my first time welcoming the new lunar year away from home. However, I feel like home celebrating the event together with other friends at this ceremony. I hope we’ll share more events like this to ease our homesickness."

For young overseas Vietnamese born and raised in the Czech Republic, events like this are opportunities for them to learn more about Vietnam’s culture and traditional customs. 4th year student Pham Quynh Anh is one of them. She said: "This is a great occasion for us to taste Vietnam’s cuisine, make the Chung cakes, or take part in some very traditional games of Vietnam."
