(VOVworld) - Pakistan on Monday lodged a strong protest against ceasefire violations by Indian troops at the Line of Control in Kotli Sector, killing three civilians and injuring 15 others. "The Indian deputy high commissioner was called in by the director general (SA& SAARC) today," said a statement issued on Tuesday by Pakistan’s Foreign Office.
According to the statement, Pakistan asked New Delhi to investigate the incident, share the findings of the investigations with Pakistan, instruct its troops to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit, and maintain peace along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The statement added that Pakistan noted with regret and deep concern that during the last two months, so far, there have been 70 ceasefire violations from the Indian side of the Line of Control and the Working Boundary.
India has also accused Pakistan of violating the ceasefire, causing Indian casualties. New Delhi summoned Pakistan’s High Commissioner Abdul Basit on Sunday to protest “unprovoked firing” by Pakistani troops on the Line of Control since August 8.
The two countries’ security advisers are scheduled to meet in New Delhi on August 23rd and 24th to discuss measures to fight terrorism and ease tension along the Line of Control.
