(VOVworld) – On Wednesday the UN received an official request from Palestine to join several international conventions including the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, the Convention on Civil and Political rights, and the Convention Against Genocide.
Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, said the UN will review Palestine’s requests and consider the appropriate next steps.
The Israeli government warned that it may retaliate with territory annexations or economic sanctions.
