Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas informed US Secretary of State John Kerry Sunday that the Palestinians intend to present a draft resolution to the UN Security Council on Monday. The draft resolution calls on the Security Council to support setting up a timetable for a gradual ending of the Israeli military occupation of the Palestinian territories by 2017. Earlier, chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat expressed his hope that the Security Council will convene to vote for the Arab-backed draft resolution.
