In a statement issued at the end of the meeting, representatives of Palestinian factions agreed on institutions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, starting the reconstruction of Gaza, and preparing for general elections as soon as possible.
The factions committed to establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital and ensuring the return of Palestinian refugees in accordance with the United Nations Resolution issued in 1948.
The 3-day reconciliation meeting in Beijing involved 14 Palestinian factions including Fatah, which runs the current Palestinian Authority, and Hamas.
