Palestinian President calls for ending Israeli airstrikes
(VOVWORLD) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas spoke on Wednesday with the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and called for an end to Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

Abbas and Guterres discussed the current tension between Israel and Palestine in the Gaza Strip and the international efforts for reaching a ceasefire.
Abbas said that "the brutal Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip cause catastrophe and destruction," adding that "the Israeli occupation must be held accountable for committing crimes against the Palestinian people."
Abbas also called on the international community to oppose Israel’s attacks in Jerusalem.
